Annotation -
The course covers basic groups of natural compounds, their properties and utilization. It explains also basic concepts related to structure of molecules, their stereochemistry and chirality including structure-biological activity relationships.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

Name compounds according to nomenclature of organic compounds

Describe structure, properties and reactions of individual groups of organic compounds as well as their biogenesis

Assess configuration, chirality and likely conformations based on the structural formula

Depict reaction mechanisms of basic reaction types
