Applications of catalysis are shown on important industrial processes. An integrated approach is used to present selected (see the syllabus) heterogeneous, homogeneous and enzyme catalytic processes in chemical, petrochemical, refinery, and pharmaceutical industries. Special attention is devoted to industrial processes in which catalytic principles are applied in the treatment of environmental problems. The automotive catalysis is an important part of the course. Students are invited to prepare a written project task. This project is discussed in detail during the seminars, and during the final examination.

Other supports to studies. Besides the recommended literature for studies, there is a plenty of supporting information resources available on the information system of the Central Library of the Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague. The search "catalysis" offers an enormous number of items. An excellent electronic resource is the "Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry", which is up-dated each year. This resource is recommended by the lecturer, and the efficient use of this encyclopedia is demonstrated by him during the seminars.

The crucial activity in this course is the preparation of the project task. It is the whole semester activity. Interim discussions on the project with the lecturer on seminars, together with the inspirations comming from the lectures on established catalytic processes, increase the quality of the final report. The written final report is defended as the part of the oral examination. Last update: Kubová Petra (04.01.2018)
