Annotation -
The course covers basic aspects of physical chemistry, which are used in drug research and production, and further deepens knowledge of state behavior and thermodynamic properties of pure liquids and solids, thermodynamic description of condensed solutions, phase and chemical equilibria in heterogeneous systems, physical chemistry of surfaces and phase interfaces. and macrokinetic description of phase transformations and chemical reactions. There is also a section devoted to the influence of the size and shape of nanostructured materials on their physical and chemical properties, which is one of the modern trends in recent years in drug development. The content of the course is mainly focused on pharmaceutically important substances and systems and processes commonly used in the manufacture of drugs.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

Derive and explain basic thermodynamic relations.

Interpret phase diagrams of different systems.

Understand the principles of phase transformations.

Solve problems related to the processes and events at phase interfaces.
