The subject deals with history and significance of rubber industry, characteristic properties of rubbers and rubber compounding materials, chemical reactions occurring at rubber processing, structure of rubber and its changes due to aging and utilization of waste rubber. At the end, fundamentals of rubber compound formulation are discussed.

Continuous testing by means of four written tests is performed during the semester. The examination is completed when the student passes all the four tests in the proper dates during the teaching period with at least "satisfactory" grade; the final grade is the average from the tests. In the case of absence or failure at any of the tests, the student must pass the oral exam. The student may take part at the oral exam to improve his/her grade from the tests as well.
