Effective application of technological expertise in conservation is dependent on the skills to integrate its potential and results in a complex process of heritage conservation. The objective of the course is to understand the concepts and processes of cognition, planning and realization of conservation and their context (conservation of artefacts). The graduates should be able to apply this understanding in the solution of specific objects or their problems. Expected from them is the ability to integrate analysis and evaluation obtained in other studies of technology to various forms of heritage treatment, respectively, to decisions about them, cooperation acting and creative critical thinking. Teaching is activating, the basic interpretation is followed by a discussion, most often a group problem-solving, simulation exercises, etc. Some of the topics are dealt with in the field at excursions, some in direct cooperation with the students or experts of related disciplines (architecture, surveying, castles management). The concept of the course and the content of the seminars adapts to the previous knowledge of the students in the field of conservation the case that they did not passed the course Principles of conservation in a bachelor study program.
