The laboratory course complements the subject Petroelum Technology I (M215001). The aim of the course is to acquaint students with selected technological processes used in petroleum processing. Students carry out a technological process, determine the properties of raw materials and obtained products and evaluate the changes that occurred during the process.

Syllabus -

The course consists of laboratory tests, which are focused on the production and evaluation of main refinery products. Students must complete following laboratory works.

1. Refining of mineral oils (3 days).

2. Oxidation of asphalt (2 days).

3. Testing of lubricating oils (1 day).

4. Evaluation of gasoline (1 day).

5. Evaluation of diesel fuel (2 days).

6. Group-type composition of asphalts (3 days).

7. Analysis of LPG (1 day).

The condition for completion of the course is the successful completion of all prescribed laboratory works. The overall mark is obtained as the arithmetic mean of the marks for each laboratory work. In the assessment of each laboratory work, following criteria are taken into account: the student's initial knowledge of the theoretical background of the work and work procedure verified by an initial examination, own work and the quality of the laboratory protocol.
