The course introduces the subject of soil and groundwater pollution from a wide range of sources and examine the mobility of contaminant constituents in the subsurface. Different remediation technologies and strategies to overcome the resultant environmental problems will be examined in relation to degraded urban, agricultural and industrial landscapes.

On successful completion of the course students will be able to:
1. Understand processes that affect the fate of contaminants in the subsurface
2. Understand many of the basic concepts of contamination and the effects of environmental contamination on human health and environment
3. Summarise remediation methods used at contaminated sites
4. Determine if the remediation methods are safe
5. Explain why the remediation methods should be used Last update: Škarohlíd Radek (07.02.2025)
