The subject presents goals and instruments related to a circular economy where the value of products, materials and resources is maintained as long as possible, and where the generation of waste is minimalized. Further the study course puts the accent on waste management planning instruments that may support the turn to the circular economy (especially waste management plans and waste prevention programmes). This study course focuses on areas as municipal waste (incl. sorted waste components – paper, plastic, beverage carton, metals, glass), waste under the take-back system, hazardous waste, food waste, construction etc. from the view of life-cycle thinkin.
