Within the subject Laboratory of Product Ecology, students will acquire the competencies necessary for assessing the life cycle of a product. The individual tasks of the Laboratory are described in four phases of the LCA study: definition of objectives and scope, inventory analysis, impact assessment and interpretation of results. Students will use the competencies acquired during the individual tasks in the ongoing preparation of a project aimed at creating an ecodesign of a selected product. The results of the life cycle assessment of the selected product will be continuously presented and the final classified output will be the presentation of the ecodesign of the product in the form of a poster.

1. Assignment of projects and division into groups 2. Procedures for obtaining data for inventory analysis: a. analysis of the material composition of the product, b. disassembly testing, c. modularity, d. collecting data from the consumer and the producer. 3. Presentation of the initial product life cycle search and the outputs of the inventory analysis 4. Impact assessment - basic allocation calculations, characterization, standardization and weighing, orientation tools such as ENVISKETCH 5. Impact assessment - modeling in OPEN LCA (creation of project, process, work in database) 6. Impact assessment - modeling in OPEN LCA (analysis of results) 7. Ecodesign of products - use of the ecodesign aspect to find project solutions 8. Impact assessment - modeling in OPEN LCA (Interpretation of results) 9. Impact assessment - modeling in OPEN LCA (Product comparison, search in other product databases eg ecoinvent, gabidatabase, ökobaudat, IMPACT), 10. Impact assessment - modeling in OPEN LCA (creation of final report), creation of product declaration (simplified EPD), comparison based on EPD (environdec database, CENIA), 11. EPD verification, contribution and consequence analysis, 12. Impact assessment - different approaches to modeling (Gabi vs SimaPro), 13. Uncertainty analysis, Monte Carlo analysis 14.
