Syllabus -

1. Anthropogenic water cycle and water resources - natural and human-induced water cycle, types of water and water resources (surface, underground water)

2. Water management and infrastructure - basic principles and infrastructure for water supply and wastewater treatment, water management systems and dams, sustainable management of water resources

3. Water treatment technology - basic water treatment technology for drinking and utility treatment and their environmental impacts

4. Water and industry - industrial use of water (cooling, production, cleaning), reduction of consumption and recycling of industrial water, water pollution by industrial pollutants

5. Water and cities - water supply to cities, removal and treatment of waste water, rainwater management in cities

6. Water pollution - sources and types of water pollution, impacts on the environment and human health, micropollutants (medicines, hormones, personal care products), microplastics and antibiotic resistance

7. Wastewater recycling technology I - basic processes of wastewater treatment and recycling in the municipal and industrial spheres and their environmental impacts

8. Wastewater recycling technology II - basic processes of wastewater treatment and recycling in the municipal and industrial spheres and their environmental impacts

9. Water recycling in the context of global climate change - direct and indirect recycling of wastewater, industrial use, irrigation, drinking water production

10. Legislation and management of water resources - national and international legal frameworks, integrated watershed management, transboundary rivers and water conflicts

11. Carbon footprint of water management - different methodological approaches to calculating the carbon footprint in water treatment, purification and recycling

12. Mitigation measures in urban water management - ​​reducing the carbon footprint in the treatment of drinking and service water and wastewater treatment, use of renewable energy sources, smart energy in water management, modern technologies that reduce the carbon footprint of wastewater treatment

13. Adaptation to climate change - water and climate change, impacts of climate change on water resources, extremes of drought and floods, adaptation measures

14. Economic and social aspects of water management - economic aspects of the use of water resources, the price of water and sewage, the costs of discharge of excess pollution, financing of water management infrastructure, water as a human right, public participation in water management
