Students will be able to explain the principles of applied cell biology in the context of biotechnological and medical applications, describe the use of different cell types in the production of biologically active compounds, model systems, and therapeutic approaches, and analyze their technological possibilities and limitations. They will be able to search for, interpret, and critically evaluate scientific information related to applied research in cellular technologies and discuss its practical use in various areas of biotechnology. Students will gain an overview of current research directions, including the use of bioinformatics, microbial systems, cell signaling, and adaptation to extreme environments. They will learn to formulate professional arguments in discussions on cellular technologies and assess their ethical, legal, and societal implications.
This course develops competencies in linking biological knowledge with technological applications, teamwork, working with scientific sources, and applying theoretical knowledge in broader research and practical contexts. Last update: Maťátková Olga (05.05.2025)
