The course is focused on overall description of infectious agents and their properties and effect of antibiotics and synthetic anti-infective agents as well as action of immune systems on microorganisms. Attention is paid to the sources of microbial contamination and methods of eliminating undesired microorganisms from the pharmaceutical products and processing environment.
Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

Use the acquired knowledge when evaluating the possible sources of the microbial contamination in food and pharmaceutical processing and medical facilities.

Take advance of acquired knowledge at evaluation of the activity or efficiency of the anti-microbial agents, disinfectants and sterilizing procedures, respectively.

Characterize of viral, bacterial, fungal and protozoan agents causing the serious diseases.

Use the acquired knowledge when handling production or pathogenic microorganisms.
