Annotation -
The topic of the module can be divided into two parts, which are closely connected. Concerning the first part of the module, students will learn the trends leading to the provision of sustainable development of chemical technologies with emphasis on energetic demands, safety, minimization of side products, waste treatment and raw material recycling. The second part is aimed at the contemporary state in utilization of alternative energy sources with stress to wind and solar energy and application of hydrogen as an energy carrier.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

  • discuss the management of chemical process from point of view of sustainability, i.e. the minimization of energy consumption and production of waste products.
  • characterize the currently used alternative energy resources including future development in this field.
  • analyze in detail the knowledge in hydrogen production field (production of hydrogen from alternative resources, hydrogen storage, application of hydrogen full cells).
