The subject gives a survey of metallic materials which are used in technical practice at present. In the first part, the structure of metals and alloys and the most important mechanical properties of metallic materials are described. A large chapter is devoted to ferrous alloys, i.e. steels and cast irons. Important non-ferrous metals and their alloys are also described.
Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

Apply the realtions between processing, structure and mechanical properties of metallic materials.

Apply the knowledge about important types of steel, cast iron and nonferrous metals alloys.

Design metallic materials suitable for selected technical applications.
