Annotation -
The aim of the subject is to make students familiar with possibilities of the polarizing microscopy and the image analysis mainly in the study of materials so that they will be able to characterize and quantify the texture and microstructure of microscopic samples; will be able to analyze mineralogical composition of raw and artificial materials; and will be able to apply the gained knowledge in other fields of the materials research as well, e.g. within the framework of master's degree or bachelor's degree theses.
