Annotation -
Synthetic single crystals are widely used in materials research as well as commercial applications. Preparation of single crystals with desired physical chemical properties and minimum concentration of structural defects plays a key role in various fields, namely electronics. The course gives information about formation of ordered crystal structure in various systems, crystals growth methods, preparation of single crystals for various applications, and methods used for preparation of single crystal thin films. The course includes excursions, in which commercial plants producing single crystals are visited.
