Annotation -
Subject focuses on adoption of analytical methods serving for determination of operational, utility and legislative parameters and characteristics of solid, liquid and gaseous fuels. Students learn theories of fuels origin, their utilization and environmental impact. Students get familiar with properties, utilization and analysis of alternative fuels, especially FAME, bioethanol and hydrogen.

Students will be able to:

Choose appropriate analytical method to find required parametr of fosil and alternative fuels, lubricants and petroleum fractions.

Be knowledgeable in problematic of fuels application, their operating and legislative parameters.

1. Fosil combustibles - clasification, utilization, basic parameters. Normalization.

2. Origin and evolution of coal.

3. Origin and evolution of petroleum and natural gas.

4. Coal classification.

5. Petroleum and natural gas classification.

6. Common methods for evaluation of solid and liquid fuels.

7. Petroleum and petroleum fractions evaluation.

8. Low temperature behavior. Anilin point. Viscosity. Corrosivity.

9. Hydrocarbon structural groups determination.

10. Analysis of petroleum fractions by chromatography methods.

11. Utility properties of liquid petroleum products.

12. Evaluation of solid and semisolid petroleum products.

13. Evaluation of gaseous fuels.

14. Alternative fuels (FAME, ethanol, hydrogen) analysis.
