Annotation -
The course is focused on the understanding of basic principles of of transformation of energy to heat and power, based on application of on laws of thermodynamics onto power engineering systems (Rankine cycle); description of particular equipment in power engineering (steam generator, turbine, cooling circuit). Important part is water treatment (pretreatment, ion exchange, membrane processes) and corrosion prevention for power engineering and alleviation of its ecological impact (desulfurization of flue gases). Cooling to low temperatures is also a part of the course. In seminars attention is paid to fuel combustion (higher heating value, lower heating value, air-fuel ratio) and thermodynamics of water and steam (thermal efficiency, Molliere diagram).
