Annotation -
The aim is to obtain an overview and basic understanding of blood and blood elements and their properties. The skill to apply this knowledge in immunochemistry and medicine. There is information on the structure and function of blood and blood cells, immune system, innate and acquired immunity and its regulation, the use of immunochemistry in analytic chemistry and medicine, on hemostasis and thrombosis and hematological and immunological disorders.

1) Hematology, blood, plasma, blood cells and blood elements, hematopoetic cells, cell proliferation and differentiation, blood cells forming organs

2) Deficit and surplass of blood cells, anemia, myeloproliferative and lymphoproliferative disorders and hematologic malignancies

3) Hemostasis and thrombosis, blood coagulation, platelets, fibrinolytic system

4) Laboratory diagnostic methods in blood coagulation and thrombosis, hemocompatibility

5) Introduction to immunology and immunochemistry, cells of the immune system

6) Innate and acquired immune system, the immune response

7) Complement

8) Major histocompatibility system, lymphocytes and their functions

9) Antibodies - immunoglobulin class structure and function, antigens - structure and function, interaction antibody - antigen, antibody - affinity, specificity, cross-reactions

10) Immunity disorders

11) Immunization - polyclonal antisera production, isolation of antibodies, their purification and characterization, monoclonal antibodies - production and properties

12) Imunochemical methods - general approach to the synthesis of conjugates (hapten-protein, hapten-enzyme, antibody-enzyme), enzyme immunoassays
