Annotation -
The aim of the course is to give students a deeper understading of the economy as a whole. To teach them to analyze problems of macroeconomic markets, processes of integration and globalization; to explain negative phenomena of market economy and possibilities of government economic policy.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

Understand the causes and effects of negative phenomena, which disturb economic development (crisis, unemployment, inflation).

Explain possibilities of government economic policy affecting economic development.

Understand for negative effects of some government interventions on economic development of country.

Syllabus -

1. The fundations of contemporary macroeconomics. Economic subjects - sectors of economy. Theoretical recommendation for economic policy.

2. Macroeconomic markets. Segmentation of markets. Aggregation problems. Structural disproportionality.

3. Goods and services market. Expenditures. Income-expenditure model. Three- and four-sectors models. Multiplier effect.

4. Loanable funds market. Planned and realised investments. National and domestic savings and investments. Macroeconomic identities and equilibrium condition.

Goods and services market. Aggregate demand. Real product and price level. Indexes of the price level.

5. Goods and services market. Theoretical concepts of aggregate supply function. Expectation of economic subjects and their reaction to changes.

6.Equilibrium of goods and services market, AS-AD model. Disequilibrium and re-established of equilibrium.

7. The nature of money and purchasing power of a monetary unit. Independence of central bank and government. Demand for money, money market and its equilibrium.

8. International trade and the foreign exchange market. Exchange rates. Balance of payments and balance of trade. International movements of capital.

9. IS-LM-BP model.

10. Macroeconomic labor market. Aggregation problems. The supply of labor and labor demand.

11. Product fluctuation in short run and long run. Economic cycle and its interpretation by major schools of economic thought.

12. Public budget. Its revenues, expenditures and balance. Public finance deficit and government debt. Cyclically balanced public budget.

13. Fiscal policy, its targets, possibilities and limits. Magic quadrangle. Fiscal expansion and restriction. Inflation and unemployment.

14. Monetary policy, its targets, possibilities and limits. Intervention in foreign exchange markets.
