The goal of these lectures is to teach the students about interaction of cells with intercellular mass, biological compatibility of implants and application of various materials in biology and experimental medicine. Further, the necessary requirements for application of metal biomaterials will be explained, the students will be introduced to various types of implants based on metal bio-materials and to metal materials for stomatology (amalgams and other). The interaction of bioactive materials with body fluids will be described as well and the differences between bioactive and bioinert materials will be stated. In the field of polymer bio-materials the students will learn about polymers for dentistry, polymer substrates for drug delivery, applications of silicone based polymers and about tissue engineering and other bioapplications.
