Annotation -
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with advanced methods of material and energy balance of the combustion of all types of fuel. The subject also deals with chemical equilibrium and chemical kinetics of combustion reactions and reactions leading to the formation of environmental pollutants. The course also deals with modern low-emission technologies of energy use of fuels.

Syllabus -

The first block of the subject deals with a) chemical equilibrium and chemical kinetics of combustion reactions, b) reaction mechanisms of fuel oxidation, c) reaction mechanisms of pollutant formation, d) modern fuel utilization.

The second block of the subject covers topics e) technology - reduction of nitrogen oxides (selective catalytic reduction), f) volatile organic compounds (low temperature catalytic combustion), g) flue gas recirculation technology, h) chemical loop technology, i) oxy-combustion technology.

Learning outcomes -

Students will master advanced methods of energy use of all types of fuels, with an emphasis on minimizing environmental impact. At the same time, they acquire the exact computational procedures of the energy and material balance of combustion processes.
