Annotation -
Conservation and preservation of historical artworks in general point of view. Why conservation, why preserve historical artworks for the future. The definition of historical artwork and its identification. Ethics of conservation and restoration work. Variants of possible approaches to historical artifacts and artwork under its protection, rehabilitation, conservation, preservation, reconstruction, revitalization, etc. The role of the conservator, technologist and conservationist and their cooperation in conservation work on a specific task. Students will be introduced to different art techniques by which artworks are created and conserved. Examples of specific conservation projects.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

  • know individual phases of restoration/conservation, to understand to artistic works and ethics of restoration
  • know methods of interdisciplinary cooperation in the procedure of people in the conservation-restoration work
  • understand the basic therms of the conservation branch
  • know new trends in conservation
