Annotation -
The aim of the course is to teach students the part of environmental microbiology concerning the occurrence of contaminants in environment and their biodegradation. Emphasis will be placed on the main principles of biodegradation and bioremediation. In addition, the course focuses on the various types of environmental contamination with harmful substances (e.g. contamination by petroleum products), microbial decomposition of these harmful substances in the environment and methods detecting degradation process.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

determine various types of environmental contamination by harmful substances,

know the possible microbiological decomposition of harmful substances,

limitations of microbiological degradation of contaminants.
