Annotation -
Biochemistry: Seminar I is mainly focused on practical knowledge necessary for successful mastery of basic laboratory techniques. It familiarizes students with various separation techniques and immunochemical methods and allows the understanding of their real use in practice using specific examples. In the second half the seminar is focused on natural biocatalysts - enzymes, on their classification, kinetics and inhibition, again using examples from laboratory work.
Last update: Lipov Jan (08.08.2013)
Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

draw formulas and evaluate charge properties of coded aminoacids

draw the titration curve of peptides

understand basic chromatography techniques (gel permeation, ion exchange, affinity)

understand basics of immunochemical methods

divide enzymes to the classes

understand basics of enzyme kinetics and inhibition
