Annotation -
The target of the course is to learn students to write in a proper way original and review papers, research reports, preparation of the research projects, to complete various types of applications (for research funding, scholarships, etc.). Important part of the course is also preparation of oral presentations on the selected topics. Students will become familiar also with the evaluation of scientific activities and performance of the scientific societies.

Aim of the course -

Students will get following knowledge and abilities:

  • to prepare oral presentation on the defined topic and to present it at student workshop
  • to write diploma theses, original and review papers or research reports
  • to propose research projects
  • to become familiar with present status and trends in applied biochemistry

2. Correct presentation of the scientific results

4. Evaluation of the scientific activities and information about most frequent databases (e.g. SCI, WOS, RIV)

5. Preparation of the scientific projects and information about agencies supporting research in Czech Republic and abroad, including option to apply for scholarships

6, Czech and international scientific societies and their role in the science progress

7. History and new trends in applied biochemistry

8. Biochemistry as a tool for the development of new analytical approaches (biosensors, DNA chips, etc.)

9. Antibodies and their fragments in analysis and therapy

10.Biological drugs in therapy

11.Abuse of biological drugs (sport doping, etc.)

12.Epigenetic changes of DNA and their consequences

13.New applications of enzymes

14.Transgenic organisms (GMO), ways of their preparation, option of their application in research and common life
