Annotation -
An applied branch presuming an elementary knowledge about microbiology (systematic summary and characteristic of bacteria and micromycetes), that connect gradually with application of knowledge about processes proceeding on different biotopes, in recipients, at process of water purification and water treatment, in cooling systems etc. In terms of microbiology and bioindication there are mentioned new findings in reaction on new technologies and processes in relation to valid legislation, new methods and procedures in water treatment and waste water treatment technologies. Notably is elaborated bioindication of microorganisms (bacteria, micromycetes) and their relation to the ecological water pollution. Fundamental, there is, a practical part that is sight on specific groups of microorganisms, their signification, means of detection and determination (cultivation, microscopy, biosensors, molecular biology, FISH). Concept and content object of study is individually adapted with respect on experience and knowledge of aspirant and further is adjusted to the theme solved by dissertation thesis.

Syllabus -

Preliminary part of study deal with summarization of fundamental knowledge relevant to ecology and taxonomy od microorganisms, their occurrence (planktonic forms, biofilms, vegetative forms, spores), methods of study (microscopy, cultivation, molecular biology). Further are solved pathogenic and non-pathogenic microorganisms at process of water treatment, in disinfected water, and methods of study in reaction on new legislation and new technologies of purification (membrane process, sorption, biosensors). Problems of the support of microbial growth on materials used ibn water technologies are solved and discussed (ecological balance, risks), secondary contamination, taste and odours. In case of waste waters and recycling (grey waters) are introduced new indicators (bacteria, bacteriophages), methods of study, including the question of resistance on biocides and microbicide preparations (or antibiotic).
