The subject deals with describing processes and equipments of chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries. Students are acquainted with the computational procedures for the balance of matter and energy, the basics of hydrodynamic, heat and diffusion processes, including the principles of calculation of chemical reactors.

To obtain the assessment, three tests must be accomplished, each with at least 40% success rate. To complete the oral exam, the student must successfully answer two questions from the list of questions. The resulting mark is calculated from the results of the tests and oral examination. Heat exchangers: types and design. Evaporators: types and design. 8. Diffusion separation processes. Mass transfer equipment. Equilibrium plate. 9. Liquid extraction of immiscible solvents: equipment, single-stage, repeated and countercurrent extraction. 10. Flash and differential distillation of binary mixtures. 11. Rectification in staged column. 12. Drying of solids, enthalpic humidity chart. Batch and continual dryers. 13. Chemical reactors and bioreactors, basic types. Material balance. 14. Chemical process equipment.
