Annotation -
This subject deals with basic processes of hot metal production in blast furnace, raw materials used in this process and their preparation and with alternative processes of direct reduction of iron ores. The second part pays attention to the most important reactions of hot metal oxidation refining (decarburization, dephosphorization) and following refinement in non oxidizing conditions. At the end, technological processes of steel casting, forging and rolling are mentioned.
