The lecture focuses on general biological processes on cellular, organ, organism and population level. Introduction to all organism groups from non-cellular viruses through unicellular to multi-cellular organisms. Special emphasis is placed on the topics related to impact of toxic compounds and environment protection (as stress physiology, immune system, classic and molecular genetics, relations among organisms). Selected methods used in individual biological branches are also presented (e.g. genealogical method in classic genetics, DNA analysis and genetic engineering). The lecture is modified for students of non-biological lines.
