The course follows the course Analytical chemistry A and it continues in lectures and seminars focused on fundamental concepts of instrumental analysis. Special attention is paid to spectrometric techniques, hyphenated techniques, chemical sensors and biosensors. An important part of the course is dedicated to (i) analytical data processing and evaluation, and (ii) interpretation of vibrational, mass and NMR spectra.

Students will be able to: Describe and explain principles of spectrometric methods of both elemental and molecular analyses and their application in hyphenated and combined techniques. Describe and explain principles of chemical sensors and biosensors and to show examples of their applications. Process and evaluate independently the basic analytical data including the estimation of uncertainties. Interpret vibrational, mass and NMR spectra of simple organic substances.
