Syllabus -

The lecture covers the following topics:

1. Theoretical fundamentals (brief reminders of thermodynamics fundamentals, dependence of thermodynamic functions on temperature, pressure and system composition).

2. Calorimetry and methods of thermal analysis (theoretical basics, instrumentation, interpretation of measured data).

3. Equilibrium measurements (theoretical basics, instrumentation, interpretation of measured data).

4. Other methods (eg determination of surface energy of solids).

Within the experimental part of the workshop students will carry out the measurements with samples of various solids (metals and their alloys, inorganic non-metallic materials and organic polymer materials). The preparation of these samples and their characterization before and after measurements are included.
