Annotation -
The course focuses on the fundamental aspects of chemistry as natural and technical science. Chemical principles, logical linkages and relationships are emphasized. The reading is based on fundamental chapters of physical chemistry and the impact of physico-chemical rules in inorganic, organic, analytical chemistry as well as biochemistry is stressed.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

Explain the relationships of molecular and macroscopic characteristics of solids, liquids and gases.

Describe phase equilibria in one-component and two-component systems.

Explain fundamental thermochemical concepts, conditions for spontaneity of chemical reactions, concepts of chemical kinetics and chemical equilibria.

Describe fundamental concepts in electrochemistry and optical spectroscopy.

Solve basic chemical and physico-chemical calculations.
