Annotation
The assignments given to students in the scope of the Laboratory present the most common unit operations in the chemical engineering area (e.g. filtration, heat exchange, pipes and pumps, distillation, sedimentation, reverse osmosis, milling, fluidization, mixing, reactor). Students operate the laboratory or pilot plant-scale equipment to measure its operational parameters and use the obtained data to evaluate other equipment or material parameters that are important for a chemical engineering based description of the particular unit operation. The written report on the measurement, data analysis and conclusions is then handed in by the students and each task is concluded by the discussion with a teacher assistant to verify and strengthen students' understanding of the underlying theory. For students that took the "Chemical Engineering Laboratory" course during their bachelor study program stage, laboratory tasks selection will be personalized so different tasks than those taken during the former course are assigned to the student.

Course completion requirements

To pass the course students must, for each laboratory assignment, hand in written laboratory report and pass a brief examination with teacher assistants verifying the basic understanding of theory underlying the particular unit operation.
