Annotation -
The first part of the subject deals with basic processes of iron production in blast furnace, alternative processes of direct reduction of iron ores and processes of steel production. The second part of the subject is focused on processes and technology of common as well as rare non-ferrous metals. Treatment of some types of metal-bearing wastes is mentioned, too.

Students will be able to: know about technologies of iron and steel production, direct iron ore reduction processes and technologies of production of basic and other chosen non-ferrous metals.

6. Secondary steelmaking and ladle furnace metallurgy.

7. Steel casting, treatment of metallurgical semiproducts.

8. Introduction to non-ferrous metallurgy. Lead production.

9. Production of Zn, Cu.

10. Production of Ni, Sn.

11. Production of Al, Mg.

12. Production of Ag, Au, PGM metals. Production of chosen minor metals.
