Annotation -
The course focuses on the basic processes used in water management and understanding of their use and arrangement into technological units in the production of drinking water from groundwater and surface water and in the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater.

successful passing a written exam (min. 51 %)

possibility of improving grades B - E:

• by an exam in the remedial term

• by prior agreement, because SIS allows registration for the next term only with an F result

1. Introduction to water treatment and purification processes

2. Removal of suspended solids - sedimentation, gravity thickening of suspensions and sludges

3. Removal of suspended solids - filtration

4. Membrane processes

5. Liquid-gas contact processes (aeration, stripping, flotation)

6. Other separation processes - adsorption, desorption, ion exchange

7. Chemical processes - pH adjustment, precipitation, coagulation

8. Oxidation, reduction, disinfection

9. Mechanical pretreatment of urban wastewater

10. Introduction to biological processes, removal of organic matter (activation and biofilters)

11. Nutrient removal

12. Separation, tertiary and quaternary treatment operations

13. Sludge management, anaerobic wastewater treatment

14. Application of processes to model situations
