Annotation -
Microorganisms (prokaryotes and single-celled eukaryotes) possess characteristics which are used in biotechnology. The course focuses on particular taxons whose common characteristic is the required biochemical activity (biosynthetic, bioremediation) involved in a wide range of physico-chemical conditions. The focus is put on microbiological, biochemical, and genetic characteristics of microorganisms, which enormous diversity is also broad spectrum of new metabolic pathways.

Teaching methods -

The basic method is a lecture inseparably connected with a discussion with students on the individual lecture topics. During the seminar, students develop an individual project on a selected topic that is closely related to the lecture topics. The course of elaboration of the topic and its result is consulted with the lecturers.
