Annotation
The aim of the course is to build knowledge on the principles of wastewater treatment technologies. Wastewater characterization methods and the main wastewater treatment technologies based on chemical, physicochemical and biological processes are explained.

2. Wastewater characterization; sewerage systems

3. Mechanical wastewater treatment

4. Biological wastewater treatments: biochemical and microbiological principles and biofilm processes: principles and fixed-film reactors

5. Activated sludge process: formation of activated sludge, main technological parameters, types of activated sludge process

6. Activated sludge process: diffuse air aeration, mechanical aeration, mixing of activated sludge tanks, nutrient removal systems

7. Separation of activated sludge, effluent polishing, wastewater reuse

8. Physico-chemical methods I: sedimentation, oil-water separation, hydrocyclone, filtration, flotation, magnetic separation

9. Physico-chemical methods II: precipitation, coagulation, neutralization, ion exchange, adsorption, stripping
