Annotation -
Processes for manufacturing of basic inorganic compounds will be discussed in the scope of physico-chemical and chemical-engineering principles. Main limitations given by reaction equilibrium and chemical kinetics will be discussed. Beside description of production process also the principle of used solution will be analyzed. Attention will be also paid to electrochemical a separation processes.

  • understand basic processes of inorganic technology
  • describe limitations of chemical reaction by thermodynamic equilibrium and reaction kinetic
  • propose production process with respect to the desired products

The subject is focused on the following topics:

  • basic sources of raw material for technological production, pretreatment
  • production of soda and hydrogen carbonate, phase equilibrium in condensed systems
  • production of hydrogen from gaseous, liquid and solid raw materials, equilibrium composition of chemical reaction
  • production of ammonia, reaction equilibria vs. reaction kinetics
  • mineral acids production, adiabatic reactors¨
  • electrochemical technologies, overvoltage, electrochemical potential
  • electrochemical power sources
