The course is focused on structure of macromolecules, physical properties of polymers, monomer polymerizability, chain and stepwise polyreactions, copolymerization, ring opening polymerization and chemical reactions of polymers.

Aim of the course -

Students will be able to:

Use basic terms from the field, assess basic physico-chemical structure of polymers and their thermal behavior

Understand the principles of chain polyreactions-radical, ionic and coordination

Understand the principles of step-growth polyreactions-polycondensations and polyadditions

Requirements to the exam - Czech

Kontrola studia se uskutečňuje formou 3 průběžných testů (max.dosažitelný počet bodů z každého testu 15). Zápočet bude udělen při min.60%ní úspěšnosti, tj. dosažení 27 bodů. Při nesplnění této podmínky je možno získat zápočet na základě úspěšně absolvovaného souhrnného zápočtového testu (60%). Tento test se bude psát po ukončení semestru.

5. Free radical polymerization - elemental reactions.

6. Kinetics of free radical polymerization.

7. Free radical copolymerization.

8. Ionic polymerization and copolymerization.

9. Insertion polymerization, polymerization practice.

10. Ring-opening polymerization.

11. Step-growth polymerization - characterization, reactivity of monomer functional groups.

12. Polycondensation - mechanism and kinetics, molecular weight distributions.

13. Polyadditions - typical syntheses.
