The course focuses on the qualitative and quantitative composition of different types of water, the classification of water and the chemical and biological processes that take place in water. The properties, genesis and occurrence of metals, semi-metals, non-metals including gases, colloids, organic matter and related summary indicators are discussed in detail. Attention is also focused on water classification, physico-chemical properties, radioactivity of waters. Chemical equilibria in water are discussed, including hydrochemical calculations, and the teaching is oriented towards the application of the acquired knowledge in practice, e.g. the use of water resources for irrigation, fish farming, recreation, etc.

Students will be able to:

assess the quality of the water in terms of its impact for the environment;

assess the quality of the water in terms of its aggressive action on various materials;

assess water quality in terms of hygiene;

explain the behavior of water on the basis of solutions of chemical and biochemical processes in different types of water.

Vypracování úkolů bude hodnoceno, za každý úkol bude možno získat maximálně 20 bodů, hodnotícím kritériem bude splnění zadání, věcná správnost a originalita řešení, přihlédnuto bude rovněž k rozsahu. Bodový zisk 91 - 100 odpovídá známce A, 81 - 90 B, 71 - 80 C, 61 - 70 D, 51 - 60 E, < 50 F. Hodnocení F znamená nesplněný úkol.
