The subject deals with molecular and supramolecular structure, network formation, free volume concept, glass transition, crystallization, elasticity, viscoelasticity, melt flow properties, yielding and fracture, electrical properties, transport properties. The course broadens and deepens information of the basic course for bachelor and magister students.

select suitable polymer material(s) for the product/application.

2. Network formation, network structure.

3. Glass transition and free volume concept.

4. Thermodynamics and kinetics of crystallization.

5. Theory of rubber elasticity, its applications.

6. Viscoelasticity, relaxation transitions, Boltzmann superposition principle.

7. Polymer melt flow properties - effects of shear rate, molar mass, temperature.

8. Mechanical strength. Introduction to fracture mechanics.

9. Miscibility and solubility of polymers. Phase separation.

10. Effects of anisotropy (orientation) on polymer properties. Polymer composites.

11. Electrical conductivity. Dielectric properties.
