The course is focused on the classification, processing and recycling of inorganic, especially silicate wastes. The first part of this course is focused on waste treatment methods in general. The principles of machinery used in waste treatment and recycling are discussed. Further, the basics of waste management legislation are discussed. The main part of the course deals with wastes in the production of inorganic binders, building materials and in glass and ceramics industry.

Students will be able to:

Characterize inorganic, especially silicate wastes.

Describe principles of processing and recycling of wastes in the production of inorganic binders, building materials, glass and ceramics.

Describe principles of machinery used in the treatment of wastes and their recycling.

Use the basics of Waste Management Legislation.
