Lectures will be focused on development and classification of biomaterials and new generation of nanobiomaterials including their preparation and degradation. Metal, ceramic, polymer and composite biomaterials and nanobiomaterials for tissue engineering. Introduction to nanoparticles in pharmaceutics including targeted drug delivery will be given as well as diagnostic and therapy applications of natural biopolymer nanoparticles, quantum dots and superparamagnetic nanoparticles.

Students will be able to:

introduce characterization and classification of biomaterials, bionanomaterials, preparation of biomaterials, degradation of their structure and properties, metal, ceramic, polymer and composite biomaterials, biomaterials for tissue engineering, nanoparticles in pharmaceutics (targeted drug delivery systems), natural biopolymer nanoparticles, nanoparticles sensitive to temperature and pH changes, quantum dots, superparamagnetic nanoparticles for diagnostics and therapy
