Annotation -
The aim is to adopt methods for the determination of physico-chemical parameters of solid fuels. Part of the work is focused on determination of the textural properties of the materials. The course is also focused on combustion and pyrolysis experiments with subsequent product analysis.

Students will be able to:

properly sample solid fuels

prepare fuel samples for analysis

determine properties of fuels, carbonaceous materials and products of their thermochemical conversion

8. Combustion tests in different types of stoves

9. Determination of flue gas composition

10. Determination of flue gas volume, pollutant concentrations and emission factors of polluting agents

11. Calculation of mass and energy balance of combustion proces

12. Low temperature pyrolysis, calculation of mass balance of this proces

13. Analysis of gaseous, liquid and solid products of pyrolysis and determination of their composition and properties
