Aim of the course -

Students will be introduced to the general concept of biorefineries and their role in the chemical industry. Furthermore, students will understand the individual types of biorefineries (sugar, lipid, lignocellulosic, CO2-based, etc.), which are based on the diversity of input raw materials. Increased importance will be given to the chemical composition and structure of the input raw materials. Furthermore, students will be introduced to various physico-chemical processes transforming input raw materials into final energy and chemical products.
