The course is based on the Coordination chemistry course. It is aimed at the role of metals in both electron and mass transfers in living systems. It describes the behaviour of individual metals focusing on the relationship between their chemical properties and biological activity, toxicity and therapeutic use.
Aim of the course -
Last update: TAJ101 (03.12.2013)

Students will be able to:

Describe the chemical nature of metal biological activity

Describe the role of biogenic metals in metabolism

Explain toxicity or therapeutical use of non-biogenic metals

Evaluate suitable use of analytical methods in order to study metal ions in biological systems
