The course will provide basic information about deposits of coal and its mining technologies and information about the basic technologies of the coal utilization (combustion, gasification, liquefaction, production of activated carbon). The course also includes one lecture on the production and use of alternative fuels based on renewable energy sources.

Students will be able to: understand the composition of coal, its deposits, reserves life, processing technologies and importance of coal among the fossil fuel-energy resources.
