Modern chemical engineeing is considering not just processes, but also the development of new or innovated products. Fundamental concepts are first introduced for two broad cathegories of soft matter - polymers and colloid systems. In each of these cathegories students not only learn basic theoretical concepts, but also their practical consequences for the design of new or innovation of existing products. Methods of product engineering are then illustrated on example case studies.
Aim of the course -
Last update: SEK409 (17.12.2013)

Students shall be able to:

1. Master the relationships between the molecular architecture and application properties of polymers.

2. Undrestand the effect of reactor conditions on polymer properties.

3. Apply the knowledge of basic theoretical concepts from colloids.

4. Utilize the knowledge of colloids for their stabilization and preparation.

5. Undrestand the differences of product and classical process-oriented chemical engineering.
