The aim of this course is introduction and mainly practicing of the disconnection approach (= retrosynthetic analysis) in organic synthesis. During the course, the retrosynthetic method will be used for the synthesis of complex structures including total synthesis of natural compounds.

Use nomenclature of retrosynthetic analysis

Apply retrosynthetic analysis to design synthesis of polyfunctional organic compounds

Recognize suitable structural elements suitable for disconnection of complex molecules

Understand logic of total synthesis of natural compounds

It is compulsory to prepare project on the synthesis of natural compound, to pass written examination test with the result at least 60%, and finally to pass successfuly the oral examination.
